Hey, y’all!
Hi, I’m Jess! The author behind Our Family Fixer Upper.
purpose of the blog
This blog is more than a home renovation project. It’s the story of a family, a home filled with memories, and the journey of preserving what matters while making room for the future.
In 2025, our family moved into my grandmother’s home—a place where I spent much of my childhood making memories that shaped who I am today. The house itself is a true time capsule, built by my grandfather and filled with decades of family history, laughter, traditions, and stories.
As life often does, our move came during a season of transition. What began as a practical decision quickly became something much deeper. We found ourselves not only caring for a home, but also helping care for the generations who helped build our family.
Here you’ll find the real-life journey of multigenerational living, home renovation projects, DIY adventures, lessons learned, family stories, and the occasional unexpected challenge that comes with breathing new life into an older home.
Our goal isn’t to create a perfect house.
It’s to create a home.
A place where memories are preserved, new traditions are built, and future generations can look back and see where they came from.
Whether you’re renovating an older home, caring for aging family members, navigating multigenerational living, or simply love stories about family and home, we’re glad you’re here.
Thank you for following along as we honor the past, embrace the present, and build for the future—one project, one story, and one memory at a time.
Welcome to Our Family Fixer Upper.
